Using 24AI as an example, we describe how neural networks are changing the approach to creating product visuals

Conducting professional photo shoots can be quite costly. Self-photography of goods is time-consuming and does not always produce a decent result. eCommerce practitioners are no strangers to these complexities.

AI is changing this situation

At 24TTL, we’re developing an artificial intelligence-based tool that enables you to create product images quickly, efficiently, and creatively, all while keeping costs low. With this tool, you can generate an unlimited number of visually appealing images from just one product photo. It’s no secret that a high-quality and aesthetically pleasing visual can increase brand awareness and boost conversion rates.

Let’s begin by utilizing 24AI and later on, we’ll share some tips for creating stunning images that effectively promote and sell your products.

5 steps to creating product images with 24AI

Rather than spending days filming or tons of money to prepare contextualized product photos, you can take them yourself in seconds on your laptop today, all for the price of a single dinner.

  1. Take some photos of your products with  a neutral background
  2. Upload them to 24AI and the service will automatically crop the product
  3. Adjust the size and position of the item and rotate it on the canvas
  4. Choose a theme and generate a lifestyle image of the product in a contextual environment
  5. Download the high-resolution images that have been generated

1. Take several photos of your products on a neutral background

To use 24AI, you must have at least one picture of your product. You can use the ones your supplier sent you. If you don’t have one, you can easily take one yourself. Here are a few recommendations:

A professional camera is not necessary. While a professional camera can take better pictures than a smartphone, this is becoming less and less relevant today. Since most modern smartphones have powerful cameras, it’s sufficient to use your smartphone to take pictures.

You don’t need to worry too much about the background or composition, as you can adjust those aspects in 24AI later. Just take a few pictures of your items from different angles. To ensure that 24AI understands that the subject is three-dimensional, position the camera slightly above the horizon so that the top edge of the subject is slightly visible.

Good lighting is very important. Natural sunlight is often better than artificial light, so if possible, shoot by a window. Preferably, the light should fall on the product from the front side.

Upload your photos to 24AI and remove the background

When you upload a photo to 24AI, the tool automatically removes the background and cuts out the product. To ensure that the cutting process is as accurate as possible, it’s important to have a clear boundary between the object and the background. The clearer the boundary, the more precise the cut-out will be.

3. Change the size, position, and rotation of the object on the canvas

In most images, the product is right in the middle, which is fine. But if you want to create images not just for product cards, but for social media, advertising, and emails, try different sizes, rotation, and positioning of the product on the canvas. This approach will add variety to your visual content and prevent viewers from becoming bored when they encounter your brand on different communication channels.

These images were created from a single mug shot on a smartphone:

In the second half of this article, we’ll talk about how to position your product in the photo (i.e., composition).

4. Select a theme and generate a product lifestyle image in the contextual environment

We’ve provided you with 17 different environments to choose from so that you won’t have to spend time thinking about wording at first. Simply select one of the options and click “Generate”! 24AI will produce four images for you to review. If you’re not satisfied with the results, simply click “Generate” again to receive four more images, and so on. Of course, we will be adding new themes over time, and if you have specific requests, feel free to email us and we will do our best to accommodate them. Here are some of the available themes:

If you’re looking for a more personalized theme, you can use your own environment description and references to create any images you want by opting for our paid subscription. This option allows you to create images in any environment you desire such as space, illustration, living room, jungle, and more.

To get customized images with the desired theme, you should follow a few guidelines:

  • Try to be as precise and clear as possible when describing what you want to see in the image. If you already have a clear concept, such as “on a white marble table surrounded by blue flowers,” make sure to include all those details, separated by commas. Otherwise, you can start with a more general description and gradually refine it.
  • Use the words “standing” or “on (something)” in the description (standing on sand, on a rock, in water) if you want your product to be shown vertically. The artificial intelligence will add the appropriate shadows and reflections to blend the object with the background.
  • Use negative keywords to eliminate any unwanted elements from your images. If there are certain elements, such as leaves, that you do not want to appear in the generated images, simply specify them in the “What you don’t want” section. This way, 24AI will be less likely to create images that include those elements.
  • Upload and use existing marketing images as a reference. This will help 24AI generate new images with similar styles and brand colors, enhancing the brand identity of the visual materials.

Download the created images

The default size of the generated images is 512×512 px. However, users of paid plans can download images with a higher resolution of 2048×2048 px. In this case 24AI improves images not only by increasing their size, but also increases their clarity, it is especially important when the image contains text.

To make your brand look even more stylish, you can adjust colors, contrast or apply different filters to your images. Some tips on how to create sellable images that will capture your audience’s attention.

Some tips on how to create sellable images that will attract the attention of your audience

1. Tell the story

Introduce yourself. Research your brand, identify your audience and context to understand what you want to communicate to your audience. Think about what feelings and actions you want to evoke in your potential customers.

Immerse your viewer in the theme. Use images that are relevant to your brand and target audience. For example, if your product or service is related to beach vacations, use appropriate environments that create a desirable atmosphere, such as sand, pebbles, beach chairs, the sea, the sun, and crabs.

Don’t forget about style. Determine your brand’s style and use the appropriate colors, fonts, and filters to create a unified and recognizable look.

Consider the context. Think about where and how you will use images. For example, for social media, images should be attractive and easy to understand,  whereas for a website, they should be high-quality and, above all, informative.

Don’t be afraid to experiment. Use different techniques and visual design elements to create unique and memorable images. Photography is a true master of storytelling. A picture is worth a thousand words. What story do you want to tell with your photos? It’s up to you.

2. Explore different viewpoints and settings

When building a brand, it’s important to tell a consistent story that can be retold over and over again. Ultimately, your brand is defined by what you do, not what you say.

However, this does not mean that you should always use the same photos with the same backgrounds. This approach can bore your audience. Take Nike as an example, they constantly tell the same “Just Do It” story, but from different angles. They use marketing campaigns featuring elite athletes as well as regular people to demonstrate the versatility of their brand.

So don’t limit yourself to pictures of the product on one side only – let them tell their story both directly and figuratively.
The answers to the following questions will help expand the pool of queries in 24AI, and correspondingly diversify the visual range:

  • Where does your target audience use the product?
  • How is it used?
  • What benefit or value does it bring?
  • What ingredients are in it and what materials are it made of?
  • What other products are compatible with yours?

3. Pour the colors of the brand into the visual

Make sure to incorporate your brand colors into your visual materials. Colors have the ability to evoke emotions and create associations with your brand. Use the colors of your logo or corporate palette to create a cohesive style and brand recognition. For example, if you sell organic products, using green can be associated with nature and eco-friendliness. If you sell outdoor products, using bright colors can emphasize the dynamism and energy of your brand.

The Borjomi brand, for example, successfully uses its recognizable corporate color wherever possible: on packaging, the website, social media, advertising materials, and in many other ways. They masterfully use their signature greens and navy blues, as well as warm “sepia” hues in their visuals. Consistency is key. And, of course, brand recognition grows smoothly if you incorporate a set of matching colors throughout the brand’s visuals.

This images is for example how people use color in their images. It’s real photos

4. Follow the rule of thirds

When it comes to photography, composition plays an important role. It has to do with the placement of objects, the choice of framing, and the balancing of elements.

One simple technique photographers use is the rule of thirds. It involves dividing the frame into nine equal parts by drawing a three-by-three grid and placing the main subject on one of the intersections or lines.

This approach makes the photo more interesting than simply centering the main subject. Moreover, people are more likely to pay attention to the intersections of lines in a photo. However, this is only a guideline, and professional photographers often choose to deviate from it.

Try using the shape of the letter L

Position the main object in a way that creates an “L” shape around it. This technique, similar to the “Rule of Thirds,” can help you capture more visually interesting shots, and it’s easier to remember and apply quickly.

One last tip: photos are just the beginning

Beautiful photos are wonderful, but they are only the initial step. To establish a strong brand and sell products, it’s crucial to know how to effectively use images.

If you already have pre-existing photos, consider adding a logo, slogan, customer testimonials, or unique value propositions to them. You can then utilize them on your website, in emails, on social media, in ads, and other marketing materials.

Don’t forget that with 24AI’s paid subscription, you can create an unlimited number of images. Therefore, feel free to make the most of all the possibilities available to you!
